View Full Version : Waiting for test results is the worst!

I posted earlier and I have almost all the symptoms of lupus except mouth sores and any heart attacks, seizures stuff like that, but everything else is me to a T.

I've been waiting for the test results for almost 2 weeks and and I'm going nuts. I want to join the military but I can't go forward until I find out what's wrong with me.

My face rash is what really bothers me, it's something I can't hide without medicine.. I can pretend I'm not tired, sore, and feeling crummy.

What if it says I have lupus, even more confusing, what if it says I don't and then what the heck is wrong with me? I've taken and ton of oral ster. and they only work temporarily. I am now on allergy meds and a cream topical steroid but I can't just be on that forever and no know what is wrong with me.

I really just want to get a plan for my life. I'm ok with being sick, as long as I can have goals and obtain them.

Hi Heather,

Yep, 2 weeks feels like forever when you're waiting for test results.

Can you call your doctor's office and find out if they've got the results yet? Did they tell you how long it would be before they receive them?

Are they supposed to call you with the results or do you have to wait till you see them next visit?

It seems to me that checking in with them to see where things stand should be an option.

I'm sorry you're kind of in limbo here, playing the waiting game like so many on this forum. It definitely makes things hard to plan for yourself.
I've heard so many others on here have the same questions....'what if I do have Lupus?.....or what if I don't and have to keep searching'? This can be such a frustrating path..... :(

I hope that you get some answers soon, so you can look ahead to your future.

I am also waiting. I have become an expert at waiting over the the last few years :D I have an appointment on Thursday and I will hear all about it then. When you are waiting for the first few tests it is so frustrating and it seems time goes by so slow! I agree, you should call your doctor as soon as you can and see if they can tell you anything over the phone. If they can't when is your next appointment???? If it is far away call and ask to be notified when someone cancels.....you may be able to get in much sooner by doing that. I remember you mentioning you wanted to go into the military, thank you. Thank you for just wanting to even if you can't. You are brave for taking that step and because of people like you we are all safe today. You are already a hero in my eyes

Hi Heather,

You made me think of a saying from my time in the military, "hurry up and wait". You see your specialists and they poke and prod and test and then you go home, and wait. Waiting sucks, there's no other way to put it. Waiting seems to be the worst at night. The fear and worry can make minutes draw out like hours.

I've said this many times before, anybody who considers joining the military during a time of war has some serious courage. I hope you can get the answers you need, so you can get on with your life. Hang onto your dreams, but try to take things one day at a time for now. You can do this. Try to avoid thinking too far into the future just for now. The answers will come. And don't forget that you have alot of people in your corner rooting for you. Hang in there.

Thank God I met all of you!

It seems like whenever one of us is feeling really desperate and hopeless, someone here always has the right words to say.

I do not have an apt with my dr.. he's an internalist and he seems to be very puzzled at what has me sick and is causing the rash. I'm just sort of waiting until the test results come in and then they will call me and tell me (were in a small town so I'm sure they could get me in that day because they usually do). I called the lab yesterday and they said it takes a while because they have to send some of the stuff to California and were in Missouri. They said it could take up to 2 weeks. On Thursday it will be two weeks. I don't want to keep bothering the lab and calling them every day, I know that would be annoying for them, but I can't help but want to know what is going on with my life and future. Thank you all for the support and advise you have given me. Can you tell me what APA and those other abbreviations mean? Thank you!

Hi Heather!

Just wanted to join ya on the whole waitin for the test results thing!

Yes, it is frustrating! UGH

Just remember too though on your path in life, you have to do what your body is going to allow you to do. Dont pick a path that is too physical or stressful cuz it will only make you WORSE. I know from experience.

You have to be rational with your decisions because its your health. It is what you have been dealt but there are plenty of avenues you just need to explore them and see what woeks for you.

Unfortunately with this illness you have some restrictions but its learning how to work that into your life!
