wherever yuou are, as long as you are looking within mainstream medicine, you ar going ot be referred to a rheumatologist, and where I come from (South carolina) you ahve to go through a primary doctor first (your family doc)>

Hi - I'm in Washington state, came from Oregon, and my sister with SLE is in Idaho, so I may have some good input.

Salem, OR does not have a full-time Rheumatologist. Eugene, OR has two - I loved Dr. Hudson, my sister thought the other was only ok. Dr. Loveless (spelling?) in Boise, ID is supposed ot be great. I've only seen a kidney guy in Seattle, but I hear UW has great everythings.......I live in a smaller town in Washington state, so my Rheumy might not be of use to you, but I've had great doctors up here in Washington.

Hope this helps! Sometimes you just have to try until you get it right with doctors.

Thanks! I have a rheumatologist, but I'm looking for someone with more of a "lupus specialty". My grandmother died of lupus when she was 32, so I feel compelled to be a proactive as I can against this disease...

I go to a rheumatologist in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His name is Dr. Scoville. His bedside manner is not magnificent and because of this some people don't care for him, but he is extremely intelligent and I believe he knows what he is doing. He is the first doctor I've gone to who believed the pain I was in and has worked hard to help me. My grandmother, who has lupus, has also been going to him for many years. Let me know if I can help you in any way. I know about some of the doctors here in Idaho.
