Thanks for the replies! Even though it wasn't through this site I did get in touch with someone that I walked with at the Walk For Lupus Now event in Nashville last year, so I'm happy about that!!

I live in south west Virginia near the Tn border about 500 miles from Kingsport and about 30 from Middlesboro Ky. I was just diagnosed and do not know anyone with lupus. I have SLE lupus which showed up because of a blood test to check my diabetes. I go to a liver specialist in Kingsport, Dr Sullivan. He put me on a tapering doe of predisone. I return for an appointment on the 17th. He had to order a further breakown , DNA antigens on the blood tests before medicare will approve a CT scan of my liver. I am a little apprehensive about all of this.

Not in Middle TN, but East TN just outside of Knoxville. Have had a hard time locating any local groups, they all seem to be in Nashville:/

I live in Pennington Gap about 40 miles from Middlesboro. Who is your Ra? I have an appointment with the Kingsport Ra Associates and am going to Dr Michael Sullivan in Kingsport as a liver specialist. I was just diagnosed in December. I am a diabetic and blood testing for it showed high liver enzymes which has led to multiple blood work, an endoscope a colonscope, a lung xray and now a ct scan of my liver is scheduled. I guess I have had it for at least 5 years. I thought the rash was an allergy and never mentioned it to my doctor. I was put on a tapering dose of predisone in December for three weeks. I have an appointment with Sullivan this morning to see what my next step is. Until this happened I vaguely knew what Lupus was and did not know anyone who had it. My Mom had MS. She died in 63 at 33. Until the past few years I had been healthy. I am 64 and retired. I really need someone else with Lupus to help me understand my new life with Lupus. I want to try to live a normal life as possible.
