View Full Version : Let Me Break It Down For Ya..

Hey there!

Ok, my problems are out of control to me. Well, now more than ever.
My family doctor is so useless sometimes.. she's been calling the specialist for months and apparently can't get through.. hmm.. something sounds like she keeps forgetting to call? The last time I saw the specialist was when I found out I had Lupus..... 3 years ago!!

Ok, so lately I've been getting these lightning-bolt like sharp very painful jolts in my head. like someone touched me with a tazor gun or something! What's up with that?

My eyes are SO dry, and when I wake up, I'm suprised I can even get them open anymore!

My stomach has been crazy lately. I'm either severely hungry or totally turned-off by food.

The sad part is, I haven't had time to go see my family doctor because of work.. not that she's any help. We've apparently 'ran out of options' for any non-steroidal medications.. oh yea.. since I've tried them ALL and none seemed to do anything at all.

My doctor's reasoning for not putting me on Prednisone is that I might get bad hips.. OK.. I'm 19, in my 'prime' feeling like i'm going through hell, do I REALLY care? No. I'd rather not live in this much pain..

I told her, she doesn't know what she's doing, send me back to London. Apparently she's really bad at using a phone too.

Below the knees my legs are numb. I don't even know how I walk anymore, honestly.

My breaths are short and hard. It feels like I can never really "catch my breath".

My body feels like it's asleep although I am very much awake.. I feel like I could sleep forever, but I can't even FALL asleep, normally.

I have a 15 hour work day today and I got 2 hours of sleep last night. This is rediculous! The sleeping pills my doctor prescribed me made it impossible for me to wake up until the late afternoon and I felt stoned..

Sorry, I had to vent. Noone here understands much.. There is no support group around here either.

Ok, good luck to you all, and if anyone has any advice, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry you feel so badly. By the way, beautiful name. I recommend getting a new doc. Do you have any Ins.? Check on-line to see who is covered. Thats how I found my doc, he's a good guy. Maybe ask for the # to the specialist, call yourself and tell them your were told you too. Get a referal sheet sent to her to fill out or see if they can call her.

I know it must be tough for you, but keep trying. Also, vent all you want. People here listen and care. I have no support around me either, this place helps. I check in and read post throughout the day, I'll listen if you need someone too. I'll vent with you, lol.

God bless you. Oh I forgot. Advice from my doc. Go to bed every night at the same time. Hour before bed create a relaxing routine( shower/bath, tv, comp., book or what ever you choose). It takes time, but works. I take no sleep meds cause I have kids, I'm starting to actually feel sleepy and sleep more. Hope I've helped.

Your symptoms are things that you should have looked at as they could indicate somethig serious. So, take Cheryl's advice and get to a specialist as soon as you can. Since your doctor is so inadequate, it is time for you to step up and be aggressive in your health care. Call the specialist yourself, as Cheryl suggested, and tell them that you were referred. Demand that they make an appointment for you as you have issues that could seriously compromise your health and you do not want to wait until they do before you see someone knowledgeable. If you have insurance, call the provider to see what is covered, as far as self referrals, changing doctors etc.
Your dry eyes, shortness of breath, stabbing pains in the head should be dealt with ASAP. Do not be afraid to be aggresive - take control of your health care and demand that you receive treatment for your symptoms!
Let us know how it goes...Best Of Luck
Peace and Blessings

Hi Biancavizz!

I'm SO sorry that you are going through such a horrible time , but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers...

The dry eyes might be related to Sjogren's Syndrome.

The sharp pains in your head may be something called Exploding Head Syndrome (Yes, seriously, it does exist; I have it). One of my Neurologists diagnosed it; I think it can only be diagnosed by a Neurologist because I think that they are the only ones who know about it. However, as Saysusie said, the pains could be something far more serious. You really need to get this checked out A.S.A.P.

Perhaps you should try and find another doctor, as Cheryl_v suggested?

Feel better soon!

Hey ladies!

Thank you very much for your support.
I don't need insurance.. I'm Canadian.. universal health-care. =)
My mom got me the number for the one and only specialist today when she went to see my family doctor. Wow, was my mom ever PO'd at her!

I'll let you know when I finally get in to see the specialist.. like I said.. I am Canadian, and although we have universal health-care.. it takes FOREVER to get in to see a specialist here..

Although, maybe you could help me.. my fiance is a U.S. Marine, and he has Tricare.. can someone explain Tricare to me? And if you know if it covers Lupus-related problems? He wanted me to check it out as well.. He's supportive, but too far away right now to help or really understand.

Thanks again!

tri care is for service members and there families, as far as i know there are no "pre existing" clauses with tricare, the good thing about tricare is that is almost doubles the resources for you as you have the benefit of using not only military medical resourses but that of the veterans administration also

yes they have rhuemys and imunilogist, almost any kind of care you'll need

I hope you feel better soon
