Just want everyone to be aware that this antibiotic should NOT be taken for rspiratory infections like sinusitis and bronchitis - it has been associated with several cases of liver failure and at least four people have died from taking it. Ketek has been heavily marketed to doctors as a way to get around the problem of antibiotic resistance, because it's a new type of antibiotic. So there may still be some doctors out there who are prescribing it inappropriately even though the FDA has restricted the drug's approved indications to pneumonia- it's not safe for other respiratory infections and it's definitely not safe for children!!! So if you go to the doctor for an respiratory infection and he recommends this antibiotic - tell him no and get something else.
