Thought this might be an interesting thread. Be creative! Rules for Haiku: first line is 5 syllables; 2nd line is 7 syllables; last line is 5 syllables again.

Ok.

Here's mine:

It's time for my meds.
They say, "But you don't LOOK sick..."
Sigh, I take my pills.

I live day to day
In mourning for the old me.
Never ending pain.

Have something to do
Hold still that rocking canoe
Too late for now; sank!

Everything is beautiful
But I run for shade

Well, this has proven to be quite a challenge for this "brain fogged" girl, (Laughing out loud)....so here's my little ditty.

Where are those old days
When I used to remember
Brain fog clouds those days

Much love,

This thread is fun. When I couldn't sleep last night I was composing Haiku in my head :D We SHOULD publish these ....we're all very talented and it gives a good picture of how Lupus affects our lives. Awesome idea!

Time for green jello!
Wonder if I can throw it
Back to the kitchen.

Life is a mystery
A play with many dancers
Look, a butterfly!

Ach, Basho I'm not
True Haiku eludes me so
I smile anyway

Fun thread. I'll have to
try this again later on

Thanks

All through high school (a long time ago) I read, reread, and memorized Dag Hammarsjold's Markings It is filled with Haiku. I learned to love the form then, and have read a lot of it.

It can contain so much in so few words - a joy!

Lupus is a pain
Need to trade the sun for rain
Hurt from feet to brain

I wake this morning
Will today be a good day
Let's give it a try

I have gained some weight
Want to lose twenty five pounds
I hate prednisone

Here we go again
Joint pain so I can not walk
No fun for today

A beautiful day
Season of fall is now here
Beautiful colors

Thank you! I'm a "glass half full" kinda gal sometimes :)

I really enjoy these. When you have to economize on words/syllables to convey something strong, the results can be quite beautiful. Y'all help me keep these up. Maybe we'll publish and put it towards Lupus research!

I got into a thoughtful mood, came up with three :)

I'm not sure if the word "our" is one or two syllables, I guess depends on how one pronounces it ?????

What gives us our strength?
Contentment and peace within
Watch our children grow.

Close your eyes and see
Daily prayers are always heard
Now, we'll walk with God

Take the path that's clear
Open up your mind and heart
Look and find the way.
