Just some info for people living in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont - the Boston Region of the Social Security Administration -

There are several recent posts about social security disability issues - just wanted to remind folks living in the states listed above that as of August this year, the Boston Region of the Social Security Administration implemented the new disability determination process for those states only, so any claim filed in August 2006 or later will be handled under the new guidelines and procedural rules. If your claim was already filed before the new procedures went into effect, it will be handled under the old process. The new guidelines are supposed to streamline the process of getting a determination and eliminate some of the backlog of cases on appeal. So the information in the posts may not apply to people living in the Boston Region.

Right now, the Social Security Addministration has implemented the new procedures in the six states listed above only! It will be at least a year before they go into effect in the rest of the country.
