View Full Version : Question about Meds and Negative Labs

I am having a problem with the doctors and negative labs. My question is this. I remember reading somewhere that it is possible for labs to return to normal after being on certain meds for a long time. Does anyone know if this is possible? I have been on Prednisone 20mg daily, Methotrexate 17.5mg weekly and Mobic 15mg daily for several years. My labs are all "essentially normal" and the docs in their infinite wisdom tell me that being on these immunosuppressive meds chronically would not have an affect on my labs. I think they would. Any opinions or experiences would be helpful.

Why would they give you meds if they wouldn't effect anything????

Dr.s are idiots sometimes!!!

I would get a second opinion!!!

Good Luck!!

Keep us posted!!

Angie, being on chronic prednisone might affect your antibody levels, which might show up as negative ANA tests, etc. Meds also affect your red and white blood cell counts, platelets, etc. Bottom line, labs and symptoms don't always correlate - you can have normal labs and feel lousy, or otherwide around.
