Hello Everyone!! I am so glad that I found this site! I was diagnosed 6 months ago with SLE, sjrogrens, and discoid. I am so worried. Several people have told me that most people don't live past 10 yrs with the SLE. I talked with my Rheum. and she did not give me a straight answer. I have been so sick lately, fever x 2 weeks, pain, etc. I just needed some friendly advice from someone who can understand me and know where I'm coming from.
I would be greatful with any advice!
Love, Lea ann :)

Welcome,

This is a great website, that provides more than you can hope for. The people are friendly, knowledgeable, supportive and caring. So take your shoes off, and stay awhile.

I can't answer your questions, but there is a very extensive Lupus Links that is loaded with lots of information and the administrators here....are SUPERB !!

It's nice to have you here; I hope you will find comfort here; as many of us have.

Life is good, love is better

p.s. Both of our administrators are wonderful to help answers or point you in the right direction if need be. Take care !!

Welcome to our family mom2two. Just to let you know don't listen to all the stats. I've lived with lupus for 16 years. I'm presently having some ups and downs like all of us do. It's very tough to deal with at times but you'll get through it and we're all here to help!

Lea Ann, years ago a lot of people with SLE didn't live long because doctors didn't know much about it or how to treat it. They know a lot more now and there are new treatments being developed all the time. I've lived with multi-organ systemic lupus for six years - I know one woman who was diagnosed over 20 years ago. So don't get too hung up on statistics - everybody's lupus experience is different, but we all relate to what you're going through.

Nancy, there's a good book by a lupus specialist named Daniel Wallace called The Lupus Book: A Guide for Patients and Their Families. It has a lot of info abut lupus and related diseases. You can probably find it in a big public library. I'm like you, I want to know as much as I can before I go to the doctor. Good luck - i hope you find some answers soon. Mary
