Hello everyone. I am a bit shy. I have had joint issues for about six years. Don't really like talking about myself but I'm looking forward to lurking and combing through all your great posts.
Thanks,
Chloe.

Thanks steve.b,
I am about to start methotrexate and am struggling to accept that it is time, but also very hopeful that it will help.

methotrexate is a very good medication for many of us.
yes it is a form of "chemo" ....
as it is a chemical that poisons our body.

but it is also essential,
as it helps our quality of life.

without these types of medicines, lupus used to be fatal.
even with these medicines, we have lost members every year i have been here.
do not be mistaken .....
lupus can kill people.
but these types of medications help us.

please feel free to send me a private message if you want more information.

wishing you peace in your heart.
we need help,
and these medications are, at the moment, that help.

I have talked to a collegue at work who is also on it and that has made me feel better about giving it a try. I will start as soon as I am over my cold. Thanks for your calm and reasonable advice. I had a big steroid depo last week and it has been making me feel a bit hyper and over-anxious, I think. Just need to get on an hopfully feel better soon.

Hello and Welcome to our family. I am happy that Steve was able to provide you with excellent advice. Please let us know how you are doing on the Methotrexate. It has worked quite well for many of us (in spite of the side effects).

Peace and Blessings

Thanks. I haven't started yet. I'm not procrastinating! I promise. My cold turned in to the worst bug I have had since I can remember and I was on antibiotics for a while. I am feeling better now and will start Tuesday night. I have the kids in childcare and no work on Wednesday so even if it does knock me around I can just hunker down. I don't know why I am so nervous. I think part of it is that it makes it more real. Up until now I could kind of be in denial. I will definitely let you all know how it goes. Hopefully really well, then someone else can read it and be a bit less nervous!. Thanks for all your kind replies.

Hi Cloe, welcome to WHL. From what I understand is that you are going to take the MTX during the day, I would like to suggest that you take it right before bed, that way you will sleep through the possible side effects.

I started methotrexate 10 mg not last night, but the night before, and I am super happy to say that I feel completely normal. No nausea or downtime at all. This was was I was most anxious about. I think I'll put a thread in medications about this because I was so nervous and read so many stories of people having such a bad time after taking it, that hopefully my experience can show that it can be a non-event, and be reassuring to someone who was in the position I was in. Thank you so much Debbie, Saysusie and Steve.b and Tgal for your advice and support.
