View Full Version : Is this like lupus?

Hello! I haven't posted here in a long time. I still don't have a diagnosis, but have been battling fatigue and sleepiness and a host of other things. Sometimes I'd sleep 20 hours a day and still be exhausted. Last night, I slept 12hrs and I have been sleepy all day. This is the norm for me. I've had more joint pain recently, but I'm fat, so I figure that's why. I've had hosts of other problems, nothing anyone could figure out. Jan 22nd, my gallbladder was taken out. It was barely working and causing me great amounts of pain, but no one ever told me what was wrong with it. CT scan showed no gallstones. I'm only 24. I've been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Hypothyroidism. I also struggle with anemia, which started suddenly and has not gone away, despite iron supplements and eating plenty of red meat.
Anyway, I've noticed sometimes my face goes red, mainly my cheeks and bridge of my nose. Here's a pic...yeah, I know I'm fat. But the redness doesn't show up as much in the picture because of the light, but you can kinda see it. I haven't been out in the sun, there's been none, it's been cloudy nonstop the past 3 days. I haven't been running, just sitting in my computer chair, went to use the bathroom, looked in the mirror and noticed it. It's not the first time it's happened, but if I get even a little sun, it flares up and my joints hurt like crazy, they suddenly feel...brittle, if that makes sense. Should I go to my doc?

First of all, we are our own worst critics, you do not look fat.
The rash could be lupus related, as well as your fatigue and your joint pain.
You should take this picture to your next doctors appointment. Have you seen a rheumatologist yet?
I hope, that they can figure out, what is wrong with you, that way they can put you on the right meds.

Debbie is right, see a rheumatologist. I'm NOT saying you have Lupus! All I'm saying is your history sounds a lot like mine. I'd also see and endocrinologist. That might help with the fatigue and weight situations.

Good Luck and let us know what happened. Seeing specialists is important they can treat you more extensively than your PCP for the most part.

I've not seen anyone besides my regular doc about the issues. I never much mentioned the joint pain because I assumed it was because of my weight, even though pain in stuff like my elbows probably aren't due to weight...I also never mentioned the rash because it comes and goes. Last night it stayed for about 5 hours. I felt the joint pain first and then noticed the redness and it being hot to the touch. I guess I'll go to my doc Monday.

one of the good things about this site ..........

people who understand your problem make comments on your problem.
we learn together.
others who have had this trouble before... now guide the rest of us.

no matter how i say it.......
we support each other , and learn together.

we need to take the advice, learn from it and then act.

i love to hear each of us supporting each other.....
and then hear the results also !!!!!!!!

please look after your own health, go to the correct doctor, and then let us know what is happenning.

you can help us learn......
and help your health also.

I told the doc about the kinda rash, joint pain, and fatigue. He's running labs to look for autoimmune. Also I found out that the reflexes in my knees are completely gone. I'm only 24 :(

My bloodwork came back. They said the ANA was negative but they said 2 of the tests for inflammation came back high. So they're sending me to a Rheumatologist.
