View Full Version : Recurrent staph infections post op

I had hip surgery in Jan to correct bursitis. Thought I was improving but then got a staph infection in the joint in Feb. After 3 mos of woundcare and endless pain, we thought I was finally getting better and seeing some healing. The wound had developed a tunnel inside which wasn't healing at the same rate the parts were. My dr did a culture and called me the next day to tell me he had to do emergency surgery for MRSA in my leg. This is the nasty type of staph that is methicillin resistant. Had very powerful antibiotics and several surgeries to remove the affected tissue.

Has anyone else ever contracted so many infections while trying to heal while having lupus as well?

I will most certainly be thinking of you and sending positive energy your way!

I know infections can be horrible - my husband had one just from a twig catching him while mountain biking. It spread through his leg in hours and to his lymph nodes in days after being on antibiotics. Finally he is better a month later.

I hope you are able to keep your spirits up throughout this ordeal.
