Hello all,

I want to give a heartfelt and sincere thank you to all the dedicated men and women who now, or in the past, have
served in our Armed Forces, as well as those who serve in the Armed Forces of our friends and allies around the world.

You give so much, yet ask for so little in return,

Thank you one and all, for all that you do.

I heard this song played at a Veterans Day ceremony earlier today, and I wanted to share it.
It's an instrumental by the Eagles titled I Dreamed There Was No War. Perhaps one day,
that dream will come true.

in australia we call it rememberence day.
at the 11th hour of the 11th day on the 11th month, we hold 1 minute silence to remember the signing of the end of world war 1.
and those who served in each conflict since.

i was at my local war memorial. and at the service an interesting fact was told.

56% of all who served in ww1 had some sort of injury, or lost there life.
that includes all people military and civil on both sides.
including cooks, nurses everyone.

I had a great uncle from New Brunswick Canada who fought in the First World War (my mom is Canadian).
He was in an artillery regiment in France and was injured in a German gas attack. He survived, but many
of his friends did not.

I remember as a kid, looking through his photo albums of his time in France, and
listening for hours to his stories of what the war was like for him and his friends.

My great uncle died back in 1989, and the year 2012 saw the death of the last surviving Veteran of the First World War.
I consider it an honor to have known, and to have spent time with a man who served in a war for which there are no
more living voices left. His words passed on to me are unforgettable.
