View Full Version : Protein in Urine

I feel fantastic for the first time in a long time but 5 out of the last 6 months I have had elevated protein levels in my urine. My rheum hasn't said anything about it but do you think I should bring it up? The normal range is <12mg/dL and mine has been as high as 27mg/dL (22.7mg/dL today). Do you think its significant or not? I read online that to figure out if its significant you take your creatinine divided by total protein (creatinine-protein ratio). If I do that I get 9.29mg/dL (211/22.7) but I don't know if its significant or not.

i believe protien levels are important.
they can show desease activity.
they can also be inflated by other issues,
but to me it is important incase it is lupus related.

i hope it is from another reason.
thinking of you.

Hi Ritzbit,

I'm happy to hear that you've been feeling a lot better! I actually just got test results back last week and I have protein and blood in my urine. I've had kidney stones, so I think that's more probable for me. I would recommend talking to your doctor about it so that at the least you can have a piece of mind. I've driven myself crazy looking up test result ranges, etc even though I know that my doctor can interpret the results better than I can.

I hope it's nothing, but what will be better is just knowing!
