well looks like my eldest daughter is having more health issues apparently her eyesight is failing. they have told her she has something wrong with the plates in her eyes not sure what this means has something to do with nerves she is suffering severe headaches she says her head feels like it is being squeezed and she cannot focus . she is still on plaquenil and this worries me it could make it worse. does anyone know what the plates of the eyes are i am stumped she is really scared she is going blind and she has been told this is a possibility. poor kid was just starting to get her life back on track she has been through so much and she is only 23. i admire my daughter so much she is a extrodinary strong person. i am freaking out right now.

Jeff and I just tried to puzzle out what this means too and we're stumped. Does Sarah see an ophthalmologist for plaquenil check-ups? Is this the same doc who gave you this information? Plaquenil rarely has an effect on the Retina. If he's talking about the Retina, then I would have a talk with him about Plaquenil.
He must be aware that she's taking it, so it might be a separate problem.
Please let us know when you get a better explanation.

kim, i recently went to my eye specialist for my regular check up.

i have glaucoma run in my family.
i was cleared of any signs.
we are contemplating cataract surgery at the moment.

my specialist told me that my cataracts started normally, but were advanced quickerly by my lupus.
she also stated that lupus will not cause glaucoma, but agian its progression will be fastened by lupus.
we chatted about lots of eye problems and lupus.

I'm sorry to hear that about Sarah. I hope that there is something that the docs can do to slow the progression and give her some relief from the pain.
Let us know what happens. How are you and Stephen doing?
