Hello everyone, Im still here usually just lurking. Im still have a lot of pain in my hands particularly my knuckles which make it so hard to type and much harder to work as im on the computer all day. I just called my rheumy and left a message for her.

Im really tired of all the meds and feel like they're not working, I take 12 pills in the morning 3 of which are vitamins, and about 5-6 at nite. Im on plaquenel and imuran and I still feel like they're not working, thinking to myself whats the point on continuing to poison my liver when this is not working. I mean is it worth it???? sigh, im frustrated.
Any advice on how to handle/deal with that hand pain?

When I was on MTX, I had no idea, how well it was working. Then when I had to stop it because of very high liver enzymes, I realized how much better I felt, with the MTX.
To me it was worth it, because it slowed down further damage.
I also have alot of my pain in my fingers and hands, some deformaty is starting to show.
As of now, I am only allowed to take Mobic ( anti inflammatory) and/or Flexeril ( muscle relaxer), of course the Flexeril does nothing for my hand/ finger pain.
I am going for another blood test tomorrow and hope that my liver enzymes are down and maybe I can start on MTX again.
I know how frustrating it is, because you need your hands and fingers, for everything.

linda,
i have pain in my hands 24/7.

i also have fibro as well as lupus.

my pain is usually from my fibro.
i take an anti-inflamitory daily (celebrex)
i also take a low dosage of depression medication (endep)
i also use long acting pain relief (panadeol osteo)
all of these are prescribed for my fibro.

please talk to your doctor about similar medication.
never add medications to your massive quantities without medical advise.
even though 1/2 of these are over the counter meds.

i believe tha tthe pain from fibro is not a fluid base inflamation.
it is also clasified as not disfigering, like arthritis, but can definetely be severe.
it requires different medication to treat effectivelly.

i wish you well in your persuit for relief.
