I haven't been on here for awhile, but I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem. I am currently working, but i really want an insurance that can cover all of my expenses as doing blood work and visiting doctors, as this increased my family plan insurance every month. The problem is i don't want to apply for disability because i still want to work :( is there anyway to get around this probelm?

I can't help you. I am on disability and have no insurance at all. I will get medicare in Oct (after being on disability for 2 years) but it will only cover 80%,

I would suggest doing a google search

Yep... surprising isn't it? I too thought that when I went on disability I would get insurance again. No such luck. 2 years from the time that you are considered disabled then you get your medicare which pays 80%. The kicker is that they will re-qualify you in the 3rd year and you have to have kept up with all the doctors and medicines without any health coverage.

Gotta love the government!

It is 2 yrs after but there is a 5 month waiting period. My award went back to Dec 2010 but I am not eligible for Medicare till June 2012.

Though I have not been here long this is the umpteenth time I have read about people having problems with medical insurance, medicaid or SSI. Kind of makes me think the Canadians are much smarter than we are, or at least the government and social programs in Canada. Seems the wealthiest nation in the world could afford to care for the citizens who inhabit and defend the country.
