Yes, I have had it. I just fired my rheumatologist and I have to admit, it feels really good to say. I am done with you. I called today to let her know that my pain is becoming very exteme in my legs. I explained my pain in my legs and then afte I told them that the pain was liking having a bad case of the flu, the nurse said, "is the pain in the back or front of your legs?" I again explained that I hurt all over. They called back in a little bit and said that the doctor had no idea what was wrong but needed to see me. Then, this is the best part, they said she did not have an appointment for one month and they would put me on a waiting list. They offered no relief in the mean time. After I hung up I thought about it and got really mad. I called back and told them that since they were not able to help me when I really was in pain then I would be looking elsewhere for a doctor. I told them that I would be expecting a copy of my records on the fax machine this afternoon. (We will see if I get them.) After this, I called my pain management doctor and told him I hope he was ready to work really hard on my case. Of course, he is ready to help me but no doctor should put you off for a month when you are hurting like this. Just glad I have a pain management doctor and a GP who believes I have Lupus and is willing to do whatever he can to help.

Somehow I feel better just having done this!!!!

Opening up a whole can of autoimmune whoop-ass on an incompetent Rheumatologist can be a very satisfying activity indeed.

I say good for you Mdawn. We have to stand up for ourselves and be our own advocates when faced with an unprofessional Dr/Rheumo who could care less about actually listening and helping us.

Just a quick update. My rheumatologist's nurse called and said that I must have misunderstood. I asked him what I didn't understand. He told me that even though it was true they didn't have an appointment for a month that they were hoping they could get me in before that. I reminded him that I was in lots of pain and that hoping wasn't going to do me any good. He said, if you are in that much pain then I guess you should go see your GP because our doctor just doesn't understand why you are in so much pain without seeing you. I told him, well I am now hiring a pain management specialist and then he said, "OH" I guess you want me to fax you the release form then. NO KIDDING!!!!!!

I have Lupus what doesn't she understand about pain? Oh well, moving on!

Thanks for letting me vent.

I've given up on doctors in general. I have yet to find one who will listen. My GP will renew my Prednisone when I need it. Otherwise, I just suffer. I am tired of being treated poorly by the people who are supposed to help you.
