Omg!!! My head is about to blow!! Im soo sick of these crazy doctors i could scream. Ok so my physician tried to refer me to the rhumatology clinic at scottish rite hospital and they turned me down because they said they dont think my case is severe enough!! What kind of mess is that. I know my case my not be as bad as others but i still need some relief. So then they sent me to pain management at childrens hospital and that doctor said that im just making al of this up, and its all in my head. Like im some sort of crazy person.. Ugh i could have hit him!! Im slowly but surely falling into a depressive state because this is stressing me to the max. And my boyfriend tries so hard to be there for me which is great support but it still wears me down!!

Do you live in Scotland? I don't know how healthcare works there, but it sounds like you have no choices.
My daughter went through the whole pain management thing at a childrens hospital and was treated horribly. She knows several other kids who had the same experience at the same hospital. I don't know why doctors go into pain management and then treat everyone like a psych case. I am so sorry this is happening to you. If you are in the U.S. I could give you some ideas, but Scotland is a mystery.

You could always get intouch with Marys42, who's husbands been diagnosed with Lupus and also having seizures now, you'll find her under the (Friends and Family of SLE)......as she lives in scotland and may be able to help you out in some way how the system works down your end to get help in the proper way.

You being ill and also getting stressed will make your symptoms alot worse.

Hugzzzzz your way Terry xxx

Hang in there! I have learned that in time the truth will be seen and you will receive the right care. I was told mine was depression and Menapause. Finally they could not negate the proof. I hope and pray good will come out of your hard trial.

You should have lots of options for doctors in Dallas - the trick is finding the right one. If your insurance requires you to get a referral to all specialists, you probably have a limited number of "tries" to find a good one. I have spent ALOT of hours on the computer and phone trying to do that. Your local lupus support group might be able to give you some ideas about who their members like. If you look on the Lupus Foundation website for your state, there should be a list of physician advisors. Chances are that the doctors who are involved genuinely care about their patients.

Pain management is really tricky. I took my daughter to the Cleveland Clinic because their pain clinic was supposed to be state of the art. It was a total disaster. The "expert" she saw seemed to have Alzheimers and stood in the back of the OR asking the same questions over and over when her tunneled epidural catheter was being inserted by a resident. Doctors are especially reluctant to give narcotics to teens. One pain management doctor told my daughter it would be better for her to be hit by a train and killed than to take narcotics for her chronic pain!!! We finally found a rehab doctor who was willing to put her on long acting narcotics, but she has to get regular urine tests for drugs in order to get her refills.
